Bringing improv comedy to the city of Richmond

NEW SHOW

FEBUARY 7th 2025

Richmond Improv Theatre Society presents: Cupid’s Comedy Club

Looking for the perfect mix of romance and comedy this Valentine’s season? Look no further! Join us for an unforgettable night of love, laughter, and improv chaos, as two of Richmond's most hilarious teams bring their own brand of heartwarming absurdity to the stage.

First up, feel the love (and the laughs) with No Mortgage!

In this improvised romantic comedy extravaganza, our team will take you on a whirlwind ride through the awkward, hilarious, and heartwarming moments of modern dating. Whether it’s a first date, a big proposal, or a series of dating app missteps, these performers will dive into the comedy and chaos that comes with matters of the heart. Expect plenty of laugh-out-loud moments as they create scenes on the fly, based entirely on your suggestions! One thing's for sure—love might be in the air, but so are the laughs.

Next, fall head over heels for The Home of Sapiens!

Join the Home of Sapiens to discover if cavemen really had stone hearts or if they crooned and cuddled while rubbing sticks together to make fire! This hilarious performance features seven prehistoric directors, each showcasing their untapped talent in a competition for the ultimate prize—the coveted Love Coat, made from the skin of a rare and vegan-friendly beast.
Expect love poems, improv antics, and plenty of laughs as these ancient innovators battle it out for the title of the most "evolved" director. Will love conquer all, or will survival instincts take the lead? Come find out!

So grab your special someone (or come solo for a night of fun!) and join us for a Valentine’s Day show full of big laughs, spontaneous romance, and improv magic. Whether you're in love, out of love, or just in it for the comedy, this is one evening you won’t want to miss!

Our Story

Richmond Improv Theatre Society (RITS) started as just a couple of friends who just wanted to connect and make comedy around Richmond. But since its humble beginnings it has become a name stay in the community. From doing fundraisers like Laughter is the Best Medicine, to starting performance groups like TMPImprov, Extra Relish, and Bored of Directors. RITS aims to be the community hub for improv comedy in Richmond by providing equitable access to performances and classes so everyone in the Richmond community can participate. Richmond Improv Theatre Society is proudly supported by the City of Richmond Arts & Culture Project Assistance Grant.
